Glenn Quagmire

Glenn Quagmire often referred to as just Quagmire, is a fictional character on the animated series Family Guy, best known for his hypersexuality. Creator and voice actor Seth MacFarlane describes Quagmire as "an appalling human being who is still caught in the rat-packera" based on anachronistic 1950s party-animal clichés. His neighbor and friend Peter Griffindescribes him as a "heartless sex hound" and refers to him as "a rapist" in The Cleveland Show. By profession, Quagmire is an airline pilot.

Origins and appearance

The name Quagmire was chosen by a college acquaintance of MacFarlane's; the wordquagmire refers to both a soft soil that yields easily (such as quicksand), and a situation that is difficult to get out of. The title of the infidelity-themed episode "The Cleveland–Loretta Quagmire" plays on the second meaning. MacFarlane came up with Quagmire's voice after listening to fast-talking radio jockeys from the 1950s era, describing the character as a "50s radio guy oncoke."The "giggity" phrase was inspired by Steve Marmel's Jerry Lewis impression.Quagmire's home follows the same retro theme, decked out in a style reminiscent of theswinging party set of the 1950s and '60s; nearly every part of the house has a discreetly hidden bed. Quagmire drives a 1950s convertible.
In a DVD bonus feature, Seth MacFarlane singled out a line in the season two episode "Love Thy Trophy", in which Quagmire answers a one-night stand's question about his job with the words, "I have a question for you, too. Why are you still here?" as the moment where the character's over-sexed personality was crystallized.
Quagmire typically wears a yellow and scarlet red Hawaiian shirt with blue jeans and brown boots.

Sexual behavior

Many of the storylines, and most of the jokes about Quagmire feature his sexual behavior. He is known for extremely predatory behavior, such as drugging the drinks of his dates.
Quagmire has a foot fetish.Aside from these excesses, Quagmire finds sexual arousal in seemingly banal situations, and sexual innuendo in much of the show's dialogue. During such periods of sexual arousal, he invokes several catchphrases, including "giggity giggity goo" (sometimes shortened to simply "giggity", or slowed down, replacing "goo" with "gig-gi-ty").
